A person was critically injured when a pickup hit him while he was riding a skateboard today, according to a Metro Police news release.
The GMC Sierra pickup struck the male, determined to be between 17 and 20 years old, while he was riding the skateboard outside of a marked crosswalk Deer Springs Way in heavy traffic backed up at Durango Drive at about 5 p.m., the release stated.
The pedestrian was taken to UMC Trauma with life-threatening injuries. The pickup’s driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
