Letter to the Editor:

Breathe easier with EPA rules

On March 20, the Biden administration announced the Environmental Protection Agency’s new clean car standards for light-duty vehicles starting with model year 2027. These new standards will help move us closer to a zero-pollution future, improve public health, and save Nevadans money at the pump.

I appreciate the efforts of the Biden administration and EPA to decrease the amount of pollution in the air. The American Lung Association has the valley ranked 15th worst in air quality out of 227 metropolitan areas. Based on the success of past reductions to harmful air pollutant emissions, I’m optimistic about the positive impact these new standards will have on the air quality in Las Vegas.
